Trying to save money on my bathroom remodel and found some really nice fixtures at an architectural salvage place - beautiful vintage pedestal sink, clawfoot tub, etc. Prices are great (like 40% of new). 💰
But my contractor is warning me that used fixtures can be problematic:
- Might not meet current codes
- Could have hidden damage
- Harder to install
- No warranty
Is he just trying to make more money on new stuff, or is this legitimate concern? Has anyone successfully used salvage/vintage fixtures? Any horror stories? The stuff looks great but I don't want to cheap out and end up with problems.
